50 Trainees and Dual Students Start their Professional Careers
Stockdorf/Munich – September 2, 2020 – At the beginning of the new training year, Webasto, one of the 100 largest automotive suppliers worldwide, is welcoming 50 trainees and dual students in commercial and technical fields throughout Germany. At Webasto, the health of the employees has the highest priority. Therefore, the official welcome for all German locations was held virtually in corona times. In a video message Matthias Arleth, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board Webasto SE, explained: "The automotive industry is in the middle of a transformation process. The digital shift and new mobility trends such as electromobility offer exciting perspectives for newcomers. Webasto is investing a lot in new technologies and employee development to further expand its global market position". Arleth wished all young professionals a good start and much success for their apprenticeship at Webasto.
Webasto's engagement into training has been strong for years and – unlike in other companies – will not scaled back during the Corona crisis. "We are pleased that this year we can again offer many young people training opportunities in 15 different occupational fields. In the following year, we plan to significantly increase the number of apprenticeships places despite the tense economic situation due to Corona," says Andrea Bodner, Head of Training at Webasto.
Webasto provides apprenticeships in Germany at the locations Stockdorf (company headquarters), Gilching, Utting, Hengersberg, Neubrandenburg, Schaidt and Schierling. The change from mechanics to mechatronics as well as Webasto's extended product range in the field of electromobility with charging solutions and battery systems play an increasingly important role on this. The retention rate after successfully completed training is high. Currently, the automotive supplier is increasingly looking for qualified mechatronics, electronics and IT specialists as well as graduates in electrical engineering and mechatronics.
After an apprenticeship or dual study, junior employees at Webasto have a wide range of opportunities for professional development. For example, trainees and students can complete university studies parallel to their employments, further trainings to become an IHK-certified business administrator, external seminars and training courses as well as further education via the internal Webasto Academy.
