8,000 roofs - Automotive supplier Webasto also convinces on the high seas
Stockdorf/Munich, Germany – April 28, 2021 – Webasto, the world market leader for sunroofs, panorama roofs, and convertible roofs, has produced its 8,000th roof for marine use at its Kampen plant in the Netherlands.
This roof – a 40-series electrically powered sunroof – will be used aboard Chaparral's 317SSX. Thanks to its slim, low-profile design, it is particularly suitable for smaller boats. At the same time, its quality-tested safety glass and watertight sealing make it robust enough to guarantee the necessary protection even in stormy weather.
The roof was completely produced, assembled, tested and delivered ready for installation at our plant in Kampen. The anniversary roof meets Webasto's highest quality standards like all other roofs. The production process from bending the frame, painting, gluing and curing to packaging the complete unit takes an average of four weeks.
Quality that convinces
"The installation of the roof works quickly and easily. It fits elegantly into the design of our boat and provides more light and fresh air below deck," says Derek Cornelius, Director of Purchasing from Chaparral. Webasto has its roots in the automotive industry and is one of the global top 100 suppliers. Since 2004, the company's marine segment has offered roof systems as well as complete and integrated solutions for optimizing climate comfort on board ships and yachts.
"Expanding the area of application from the road to the water is a natural step there," says Martin de Waal from Webasto. "The foundation of our success is the involvement of our customers. In the coming decade, this will remain our driving force. Our innovations provide the answer to their requirements. In the process, our range of solutions for ship roofs, shading and air conditioning is constantly growing."
