Stockdorf/Munich – January, 28, 2020 – Automotive supplier Webasto confirms that the person who fell ill with the coronavirus in the district of Starnberg is an employee of Webasto headquarters in Stockdorf.

Yesterday Webasto already announced that an employee from Webasto China visited Stockdorf last week and was tested positively for the coronavirus after his return to China.

”The health of our employees and their protection is most important to us. Both colleagues are doing quite well, considering the circumstances. They are both treated in hospital and we are in contact with them”, explains Holger Engelmann, CEO of the Webasto Group.

“We are in close exchange with the relevant authorities and inform our employees regularly about the next steps. It is important to us, to inform our employees in a transparent and comprehensive way”, says Engelmann.

Due to the current development, Webasto has decided to take the following measures:

  • All travelling from and to China is stopped at least for the next two weeks.
  • All employees in Stockdorf are free to work from home this week.

After the illness of the Chinese Webasto colleague had been made known publicly, Webasto also informed – besides the Chinese authorities – immediately the relevant authorities in the district of Starnberg actively and is in close exchange with them.
