Stockdorf – September 2, 2021 Webasto, one of the world's 100 largest suppliers of the automotive industry, welcomes more than 60 apprentices and dual students in the commercial and technical fields to this year's start of their careers at its German locations. This means that, as announced last year, the company is increasing its training figures by more than 20 percent compared with the previous year, despite the ongoing Corona pandemic. In addition to its headquarters in Stockdorf, Webasto trains apprentices at six other German locations: Gilching, Utting, Hengersberg, Neubrandenburg, Schaidt and Schierling.

To protect the health of new employees, there was once again no common welcome event for all trainees due to the pandemic, but local initiatives at each site. Stefan Reichert, Head of Human Resources Europe at Webasto, also officially welcomed all apprentices and dual students via video conference on 9/1/2021. "Webasto has been investing strongly in its further development for years. In addition to innovative technologies, we also need the right employees on board. Only with qualified and committed colleagues can we help shape the mobility of tomorrow, and our training programs play a very important role in this," explains Reichert.

To expand its market position in the field of electromobility, the company increasingly needs qualified mechatronics engineers, electronics engineers, and IT specialists. Graduates from the fields of electrical engineering and mechatronics are particularly in demand.

Once again, Webasto is demonstrating its strong commitment to apprenticeships by offering a wide range of different training programs and study positions, despite the difficult economic situation. "Also, or especially in times of the pandemic, it is important that schoolboys and girls take a close look at their future. We offer young people many opportunities to come on board of a global high-tech company. In addition, we are proud of our high takeover rate. We are very pleased that many young people have chosen Webasto again this year," says Andrea Bodner, head of training department at Webasto.

Webasto provides information about its training programs throughout the year also during the pandemic. "In addition to the traditional career orientation events, we give young people the opportunity to get an impression of an apprenticeship or dual study program through virtual tryout internships, digital career information fairs and our website," explains Bodner. This fall interested school and college students can get more information at the Schierling Career Day on Sept. 24 from 2 to 7 p.m., at the Virtual Apprenticeship Week in Stockdorf from Oct. 26-28, 2021, and on the company's apprenticeship page: https://www.webasto-career.com/en-de/.
