Stockdorf/Munich – October 24, 2018 – Webasto, one of the 100 leading suppliers to the automotive industry worldwide, has been a partner of “Startup Autobahn” for a year. The German branch of the “Plug and Play” platform of innovation from Silicon Valley brings together industrial enterprises and start-ups, especially from the fields of mobility and digitization. For this purpose, events are held periodically at the participating companies. On November 29, 2018, Webasto will host such a dialogue for the first time, with around 15 start-ups. These will present their developments in the fields of mechatronics and electromobility at the Webasto site in Gilching, near Munich. Dr. Holger Engelmann, Chairman of the Management Board, Webasto SE, emphasizes: “We are a dynamic technology company that has great enthusiasm for innovation. Within the framework of our dual strategy, our partnership with ‘Startup Autobahn’ also helps us to develop new ideas for the further development of our roof and heating systems. Additionally, we are gaining more stimuli for growing our new business segments of charging solutions and battery systems.”
Innovation has been a key driver of Webasto’s corporate development since it was founded. The young technology companies in the “Startup Autobahn” network also profit from the decades of competence and experience of the system partners in the automotive industry. In addition to Webasto, Daimler, BASF, ZF Friedrichshafen, Deutsche Post DHL, Porsche, Rolls-Royce Power Systems, Hewlett Packard and DXC, among others, take part in the platform. Four start-ups have already successfully completed pilot projects together with Webasto. These innovative solutions will be presented at the event.
