Webasto Presents Awards to Suppliers at its International Group Supplier Day 2018

Stockdorf/Munich –September 13, 2018 – Under the motto “Driving ONE Future” this week the Webasto Group invited suppliers to the company’s largest supplier day to-date at the Veranstaltungsforum in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich. The global systems partner to the automotive industry discussed the challenges currently faced by the sector, the joint strategic development and future cooperation with some 350 representatives of its suppliers from 25 countries. Dr. Holger Engelmann, Chairman of the Management Board, Webasto SE, underlined at the event: “As a provider of roof and thermo systems we are, today, highly successful on an international level. This is something for which we must also thank our suppliers.” In line with its dual strategy, Webasto is strengthening its core fields of business and is investing large sums into electromobility by further expanding its business with battery systems and charging solutions. “For both of these areas we need specialized, reliable suppliers worldwide who, jointly with us, will expand our new product segments globally, in accordance with the requirements of the car manufacturers”, continues Engelmann.

Webasto Partnership Award for outstanding cooperation
The importance Webasto attaches to cooperative partnership with its suppliers is underlined by the Partnership Awards. During the International Group Supplier Day 2018, Jan Henning Mehlfeldt, who is responsible for global purchasing at Webasto, presented these awards to five selected suppliers from Germany, China and the U.S. The awards went to:

  • BBG GmbH & Co. KG, headquartered in Mindelheim (Germany): Supplier of mold carrier systems and molds for foaming glass roofs for Webasto roof systems
  • First Engineering (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (China): Supplier of roof actuating mechanisms for Webasto roof systems
  • McMurray Fabrics Inc., headquartered in in Aberdeen, North Carolina (U.S.): Supplier of special fabrics for roller blinds for Webasto panorama roofs
  • Koda Stanz- und Biegetechnik GmbH from Dortmund (Germany): Supplier of stamping and forming materials for Webasto convertible roofs
  • Thomas Magnete GmbH from Herdorf (Germany): Supplier of fuel dosing pumps for Webasto thermo systems

With the Partnership Awards Webasto thanks these suppliers for their excellent cooperation, special commitment and very high level of flexibility they displayed during key projects over the past year.

We maintain good and close contact with many of our suppliers and want to cooperate with them more closely in the future so that we can leverage potential for optimization and new business opportunities. Our suppliers are making an important contribution in helping us further to expand our market position as a global systems partner to international car manufacturers”, said Engelmann in his welcome speech. This is why a key focus was placed on personal exchanges during the International Group Supplier Day 2018. During workshops and discussion rounds the suppliers, together with some 120 Webasto employees, discussed issues such as growing product complexity, increasing cost pressures, larger fluctuations in demand and the opportunities offered by new trends and technologies.
