Innovative Solutions for the Current and Future Motorhome Market
Stockdorf/Munich – August 22, 2018 – At this year’s Caravan Salon (August 25 – September 2) in Düsseldorf, Webasto is exhibiting products for the future motorhome market in hall 13, booth A70. These products provide answers to challenges such as achieving weight savings and the electrification of motorhomes. They include solutions such as the Webasto Pure charging solution, the High-Voltage Heater (HVH) and the eThermoTop Eco electric parking heater. Special focus is furthermore afforded to the space-saving hybrid heating solution (an air heater/gas boiler combination), the Cool Top Trail rooftop air-conditioner series, the energy-saving Isotherm refrigerators and the proven Webasto heating solutions.
Innovative Solutions for Electric and Hybrid Vehicles
As the innovation and technology leader, Webasto offers efficient and advanced solutions for electromobility. Webasto already offers a range of electromobility solutions that can also be used for electric or hybrid vehicles in the caravan sector. The Webasto Pure charging station is suitable for all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles with type 2 connectors and has a scalable charging capacity that ranges from 3.7 kW to 22 kW. This makes battery charging up to ten times faster than when using a standard domestic outlet. With the high-voltage heater, the Webasto range includes a suitable high-performance heating system for hybrid and electric vehicles. Its compact footprint and lightweight design furthermore mean that the high-voltage heater only requires a small space for installation.
Feel-Good Climate from the Socket
The eThermoTop Eco is the electric version of the Webasto parking heater. With this addition to the range Webasto is now bringing the feel-good climate into vehicles through the mains socket. The eThermoTop Eco is powered purely electrically via the 230 Volt network. It therefore generates no emissions, which means, for example, that it can also be operated with the vehicle parked on a camping site. The fact that the battery is also charged when the eThermoTop Eco is in operation delivers an additional benefit.
Hybrid Solution Offers More Storage Space and Greater Payload
Using gas to provide heating when you are on the road brings limitations in terms of space and weight for the camper. The intelligent, high-performance hybrid solution from Webasto, comprising the Air Top Evo air heater (with optional output of 4 kW or 5.5 kW) and a gas boiler for hot water (output of 1.35 kW), delivers real added value in this respect. To save space it can be installed completely under the floor and its high-performance output delivers significant improvements in thermal comfort. The weight saving amounts to more than 20 kilograms in comparison with conventional heating solutions. The Air Top Evo is supplied from the motorhome’s fuel tank, which means that bottled gas consumption in winter is furthermore reduced by up to 80%
High Performance Cooling Systems Despite Low Energy Requirements
Travelers also want the same level of convenience they enjoy at home when it comes to mobile cooling and freezing solutions. The compressor technology in Webasto refrigerators keeps energy requirements to a minimum, even at high ambient temperatures, thanks to their integrated ECO function. In addition to the Isotherm Freeline 115, which is the most efficient version in terms of electricity consumption, Webasto is presenting its new Isotherm Drawer 30 as an addition to the Elegance series. Both versions have the smallest and lightest DC compressor currently available on the market and have been developed specifically to deliver maximum efficiency and reliability in the minimum installation space. Furthermore, the Isotherm Drawer 30 is fitted with a digital display and an easy-fix system for simple installation.
The new Cool Top Trail rooftop air-conditioner series, which offers greater comfort in the interior, rounds off the range. The particularly quiet units of the Cool Top series are available in three variants. The two Cool Top Trail 20 & 24 models, with a cooling output of up to 2,400 watts, are ideal for motorhomes and caravans of up to 8 meters in length, while the Cool Top Trail 34, with a cooling output of 3,400 watts, is also suitable for larger vehicles. The slimline and compact design of the whole series makes the units particularly light, robust and easy to install. They also score highly with their wide operating range of -5 to +50 degrees Celsius.
The products exhibited at the Caravan Salon 2018 are available in selected countries.
