High-voltage heater (HVH):
As a specialist for thermo management in vehicles, Webasto offers the high-voltage heater. All variants of this electric heater utilize heating layer technology to efficiently convert electric power to heat with practically no losses.
The heat ensures ice-free windows and comfort in the vehicle’s interior. The heat generated by the heater is simultaneously used to keep the battery operating temperature within the ideal range to ensure that efficiency is optimized.
Supplying electric and hybrid vehicles with electricity nationwide – whether underway, at the workplace or at home – is a fundamental requirement for electromobility. For this purpose Webasto has developed a comprehensive portfolio of charging stations that is tailored to the different technical and infrastructural requirements of global markets. The powertrain battery in a vehicle is the key technology that drives electromobility. At Webasto we have developed high-voltage battery systems based on our expertise and experience. Conceived as a design-to-cost solution, we have maintained an open system approach (pouch, prismatic or cylindrical) and have oriented ourselves on the needs and requirements of our customers and markets.
The space required for the battery means that installation space is one of the challenges posed by electromobility. Webasto develops mechanisms, sunblinds and drives for an installation space-neutral roof system.
Investment in innovation and growth
The mobility of the future opens up new business opportunities and thus completely new areas of development. Webasto is investing in a research project at its Neubrandenburg location, which deals with components of a central control unit for electric vehicles.
The core of the project is the development of an integrative layer heating module for thermal conditioning of the electronic components of a central control unit. In terms of process engineering, the focus is on coating processes, joining technologies and ensuring an intelligent production process.
