Product responsibility: We think in an environmentally friendly way.

Products which reduce the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Webasto’s products contribute to meeting the key challenges of the automotive industry. We develop new, innovative technologies and processes which meet strict quality and sustainability criteria throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Lightweight design for vehicle roofs

For years, Webasto has been developing innovative, lightweight roof systems. At present, three lightweight technologies are being used in series production: roof systems made of polycarbonate, Webasto Glas ProTec® as well as polyurethane (PU) composites. Compared to roofs made of conventional materials, these lightweight roof systems save up to 50 percent in weight and, thus, make a valuable contribution to reducing the carbon dioxide emissions of vehicles.

Solar roofs

The solar roof developed by Webasto is a recognized eco-innovation as defined by EU Regulation No 443/2009 with which automobile manufacturers can reduce the carbon footprint of their fleet of new cars. Thanks to this technology, a gasoline engine emits, on average, 2.6 g/km less carbon dioxide, and a diesel vehicle emits about 1.8 g/km less carbon dioxide.

Electromobility

Webasto’s high-voltage heater (HVH), an electric heater for hybrid and electric vehicles, achieves a constant efficiency of more than 95 percent and, in this way, converts the electricity into heat almost without any loss. And all this without using lead or rare-earth metals.

Prevention of engine idling

In nearly all European countries, various rules regulate the running of engines to purely heat or cool the vehicle. Webasto’s heating solutions and auxiliary air conditioning systems for commercial vehicles work independently of the engine and, thus, reduce the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
